GREAT FALLS – Airmen at Malmstrom Air Force Base put their skills to the test to see who has what it take to be a firefighter.

Malmstrom firefighters hosted their annual Fire Muster on Friday. This is just one of many events the firefighters do during National Fire Prevention Week.

Senior Master Sergeant Christopher Mills said they kicked off the week with 341st Missile Wing commander Colonel Jennifer Reeves signing a proclamation.

“We went through base housing and handed out informational leaflets to make residents aware of what Fire Prevention Week is all about,” Mills said.

The fire muster gives airmen a chance to experience some of the tasks that firefighters have to perform.

It is also a great way to bring the airmen together for a friendly competition.

“This builds camaraderie because we can get the rest of the base out to see what we do. Any time and every time we can get Team Malmstrom together to show each other and demonstrate what we do it just strengthens the team,” Mills said.
