BILLINGS- No one was significantly injured in a fight involving more than a dozen students near Billings Senior High School on Tuesday, Superintendent Greg Upham said Thursday.

The fight happened near Daylis Stadium and Pioneer Park around 11:30 a.m. Tuesday during Senior’s early lunch period.

Upham said School District 2 investigated and all those involved have returned to class.

That brawl was captured on cameraand at one point several students can be seen punching and kicking another student.

“We found that two students on social media developed a conflict, and that conflict brought itself over the Senior High,” Upham said.

Upham says about 15 to 20 from Senior and Billings West High were directly involved, and several others watched.

“I think the crowd and the number of students in the crowd played a part in energizing individuals,” he said.

There is no on-going fallout and no concern of more fighting, according to Upham.

“Why did this happen? How did this happen? I think we’ll find the why,” Upham said. “The how I think comes back to social media and the ability to connect so quickly.”

Upham says the school district is still investigating.

Billings Police Lt. Brandon Wooley said school resource officers from Senior, West and other schools are investigating.

Wooley said no one has been cited with any criminal charges.
