Winner determined in Missoula’s House District 96 race

MISSOULA – It’s been a week since the mid-term election with most races decided, but one contest in Missoula County was too close to call until Tuesday.

The race to represent House District 96 was neck-and-neck up until Missoula County elections officials counted the provisional ballots on Tuesday.

Once all of the ballots were counted, the results showed Democrat Tom Winter beating incumbent Republican Adam Hertz by 39 votes. The final tally was Winter with 2868 votes and Hertz with 2829 votes.

Winter owns a small healthcare startup with his family.

Montana Hosue District 96 covers west Missoula along Interstate 90 to Huson.
