BOZEMAN – The Transportation Security Administration said there will be a 6 percent increase in airplane travelers this holiday season.
TSA projects more local and national airplane travelers will be making their way through the airport during the end of 2018 and beginning of 2019 to celebrate the holidays. TSA reported nationwide there will be an average of 2.3 million airport travelers per day until the end of the year.
Bozeman Yellowstone International Airport is also geared up for the holiday season. Director Brian Sprenger said crews project to see a 20 percent increase in security screenings from the same time frame last year.
“A combination of tourists continuing to come in as well as the inbound returning traffic to the area and then a whole lot of people leaving over the next few days and the next week,” said Sprenger. “Overall we will see about 3,000-4,000 passengers departing each day for the next week and a half.”
Sprenger said people traveling around the holiday season should make sure to be at the airport extra early. TSA said the busiest times for security checks are 4:30 a.m. to 6:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
