BUTTE – A Butte man is in custody after leading police on a high-speed chase between Butte and Ramsay Wednesday evening.

Police arrested 50-year-old Robert Martin in connection with refusing to pull over for a police patrol after running a traffic signal at Harrison Avenue. He continued fleeing from police down Dewey Boulevard and got on Interstate 90 west, where police deployed stop sticks near Rocker and flattened some of the tires on the fleeing vehicle.

Martin is accused of continuing to drive to Ramsay, where he abandoned the vehicle and tried to run from police. Police used a taser to subdue him and place him under arrest.

“He had three warrants out for his arrest in three separate counties out of Butte-Silver Bow County, one out of Anaconda, Deer Lodge, and one out of Jefferson County, so that’s why he was fleeing,” said Undersheriff George Skuletich.

Martin remained jailed Thursday evening on suspicion of fleeing and eluding police, resisting arrest, and other charges.
