Great Falls won’t be recycling Christmas trees this year

If you had a real Christmas tree this year and you’re ready to get rid of it, you may have to put it out with the trash.

Great Falls officials said that unlike previous years, there is no tree recycling program this year.

Trees can be put out for collection and placed three-to-four feet away from your normal collection container.

In past years, Christmas trees could be dropped off at collection sites around town for use as fish habitat.

The city said Walleyes Unlimited, which usually funds the program, did not have money available this year.

The Great Falls Sanitation Division is also running a day behind their normal schedule due to the New Year’s holiday.
