BOZEMAN – The Bozeman Police department added five new officers on Friday afternoon.

Officers Stewart, Allen, Garfield, Patrick, and Smith were sworn in at the Bozeman Public Library. Two of the officers are transfers from California and Texas. All of the Officers will be assigned to the BPD’s patrol division.

Bozeman Police Captain Andy Knight says that keeping the police department staffed with good officers is their way of helping to improve Bozeman as it grows.

“This is a growing community and being able to fulfill the needs of the community with safety and law enforcement and having people out there patrolling, it’s our goal to keep Bozeman the most livable place. And this is how we play our part,” Knight said.

Three of the officers will begin a 12-week stint at the Montana Law Enforcement Academy in Helena, while the other two officers will begin the department’s Field Training Program immediately.
