Update: The school district posted this statement on their website:

Superintendent Scott and the Board of Trustees have been made aware of potential threats made by a student towards our school and student body. The district takes these threats very seriously and need time to investigate and ensure the safety of our students and faculty. The administration is working with law enforcement at this time.

Melstone Public Schools were closed Tuesday.

A school official confirmed the closure but referred further questions to Superintendent Brett Scott, who was not immediately available.

A parent told MTN News a school official told them during the call the closure was due to a threat to the school or the student body but when asked details they said they couldn’t release any more information.
