Montana Rail Link continuing cleanup after train derails east of Bozeman

BOZEMAN – Montana Rail Link reports that its crews are continuing cleanup work on the derailment involving 39 coal cars that occurred at 12:50 p.m. Tuesday.

MRL estimates the work will continue through Wednesday and does not currently have a time for reopening the track, according to a news release.

The public is asked to avoid the derailment site near the Trail Creek Road exit on Interstate 90 and local residents can expect minor traffic delays, according to MRL.

MRL also said “environmental contractors are onsite monitoring Rocky Creek water quality and have taken precautionary measures to reduce stream impacts.”
