HELENA – An 18 year-old man has been charged with sexual intercourse without consent and sexual abuse of children, both felonies.

Tanis Rain Williams appeared via video in Lewis and Clark county justice court on Wednesday.

Court documents say the parents of a girl under the age of 16 called police in January of 2018, saying the girl had told them that she and Williams had engaged in sexual acts.

Williams was 17 at the time of the alleged crimes.

Police conducted a forensic interview with girl who reported that the incidents dated back to June of the previous year.

The girl also said Williams had convinced her to send him sexually explicit pictures.

If convicted, Williams faces a maximum of 100 years in prison.

He was released on his own recognizance.
