HELENA – A convicted sex offender is facing new allegations he abused children.

43 year-old Aaron Luke Thompson appeared via video in Lewis and Clark County Justice Court on Tuesday.

Thompson is accused of sexually assaulting a girl under the age of five.

Court records say authorities learned of Thompson’s contact with the girl through a call to the Child Abuse Hotline.

Police say during a forensic interview the girl told detectives that Thompson touched her.

When police interviewed Thompson, court documents say he admitted to befriending the girl and her family, but said he never told the girl’s mother that he was a sex offender.

He denied touching the girl.
