HELENA – Prominent community members sat down with kids on Tuesday to read popular children’s books for Reading in the Rotunda.

Hundreds of children filled the State Capitol for the annual event, which aims at getting kids interested and involved with reading at a young age.

A resource fair was also held to help parents and caregivers connect with local and state organizations that promote literacy.

Jesse Zentz from Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Montana (BCBSMT) said one of the best parts of the event is seeing the kids having a great time.

“Our belief at BCBSMT is children are the foundation of Montana’s future,” said Zentz. “It’s just awesome to see all these kids here enjoying reading and finding enjoyment in that activity because it’s such an important aspect that they can take into their lives.”

Reading in the Rotunda is held in association with The Week of the Young Child celebrating early learning, young children, their teachers and families.

Tuesday’s event was organized by the Early Childhood Coalition of the Greater Helena Area, Child Care Connections and the Montana Association for the Education of Young Children.
