HELENA — The local Eagles spent Friday preparing for the annual Easter egg hunt at the Capitol.

The hunt will happen this Sunday at the state Capitol on the North lawn.

Nearly 1500 eggs were cooked and colored. The Eagles began their egg endeavor early Friday morning and will continue into the evening.

There will be three categories for the egg hunt: one for little ones that crawl, ages 0-5 and 6-10.

Dan Carpenter, member of the Helena Aerie 16 Eagles told MTN that no matter the weather, the hunt shall go on. “This is what Helena Aerie 16 Eagles does, every year. It started out up on the lawn by the Civic Center and it’s progressed over to the Capital and we’ve been there for many, many, years.”

The egg hunt officially starts Sunday at 1:00 p.m. at the State Capitol.
