HELENA — Local businesses are receiving recognition for consistent safe and clean water in pools and spas around the city of Helena.

Thursday marked the fifth year of the annual Gold and Silver Buoy awards from Lewis and Clark County Public Health. Inspectors went through more than 50 water facilities.

Local sanitarians looked for specific adequate levels of P-H, recirculation and disinfectant practices.

Paul Patterson, sports director, for Helena YMCA said, “That averages about 60 kids a day, Monday through Friday, for three months…so, we are, we’re real proud of it. We have good water, we want to maintain the safest water we can for those kids, so, it’s quite an honor for us to get this award.”

Other winners of the awards included Capital City Health and Shodair Hospital.
