Man killed by gunshot in Missoula identified

MISSOULA – Authorities have released the name of the man who died of a gunshot wound in Missoula.

Missoula County Sheriff TJ McDermott says Eric J. Hansen, 22, of Missoula died Saturday morning of a gunshot wound he sustained at a residence on the 1600 block of Wyoming Street.

The Missoula City Police Department is investigating the details surrounding the incident.

MISSOULA – Missoula Police is investigating the death of a man after a gun was discharged late Friday night.

Law enforcement initially told MTN News they were searching for a suspect involved in the shooting.

MPD is now reporting they are no longer searching for a suspect and instead are investigating the incident as a “weapons discharge.”

Missoula Police responded to reports a man had been shot near 1600 Wyoming Street late Friday night.

When crews arrived at the scene they found a man suffering from gunshot wounds. He was immediately transported to a local hospital where he later died.

When asked if this was an accidental shooting, MPD was unable to confirm.

The Missoula Police Department is the lead investigating agency in this case and currently, have no more information or details to release to the public.

This is an ongoing investigation.
