HELENA – Friday night at the Helena Civic Center the Montana Military Museum will be hosting their 22nd Annual Wine Fair.
Over the years the event has generated more than $170,000 which has gone to supporting the display, preservation and documentation of Montana’s rich military history.
The museum has no paid staff and every dime goes into the exhibits and upkeep of the museum.
Museum Director, and retired Army Col., Raymond Read says it’s important the stories of the men and women that served before they’re gone forever.
“This museum wouldn’t exist if it hadn’t been for our World War II veterans who wanted to tell their story,” said Read, “and for as many that don’t say anything, there’s a few that are out there very vocal and they said you got to tell this story because some people need to know this.”
Doors open for the Montana Military Museum Wine Fair at 6:30 p.m.
Advance tickets are available at the museum, Valley Bank locations, The Pan Handler, Leslie’s Hallmark Stores, First Security Bank, Staggering Ox and The Sewing Palace for $25. Additional tickets are available at the door of the Wine Fair for $30.
The event is the largest fundraiser for the Military Museum.
The museum is also looking for individuals who are passionate about Military history to volunteer.
The Montana Military Museum is open each Thursday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. or by appointment.
