BUTTE – Butte broke ground Tuesday afternoon on a $10 million veterans home that was decades in the making.
Local, state and federal leaders gathered for the ceremony celebrating the construction of Southwest Montana Veterans Home off Blacktail Loop south of town. The 60-bed retirement home for veterans was first proposed in the early 90s.
“It was important to Butte. Butte had worked on this for decade after decade after decade, and in the end, we got her done. We got her done, because Butte, they go to work when the going gets tough,” said U.S.Sen. Jon Tester, D-MT
The project is expected to be completed by the fall of 2020.
