LOLO – The old gravel pit next to the Lolo School campus will finally be getting a facelift thanks to a new development that will also feature some commercial property space.
Al Zepeda, the owner of the Lolo Peak Brewery across the street, is the developer on the project which will have around 200 housing units once all is said and done.
Sixteen units and four “Hobbit homes” will be built in the first part of the seven-phase project that’s expected to take around five-to-seven years.
The central area of the complex will have some commercial properties with the hopes of adding a coffee shop and other business like a bike shop.
The same area will also feature a park with a pond in the winter can become an ice rink for kids to play ice skate and play hockey on.
“My big thing is it’s creating an energy, it’s creating a more diserable aesthetic when you drive through town cause right now we’ve had a gravel pit in the middle of town for decades now,” project spokesperson Radd Icenoggle said.
“When you drive through Lolo there is no longer going to be that gravel pit, so that first impression for people when they come through is Lolo [is] worth a stop, will I stop? It looks nice so I’ll give it a stop,” he told MTN News.
The project’s developers also hope to add a community garden to help keep the space from appearing too crowded and to also make the are more inviting.
