HELENA — The City of Helena is reminding residents to not do work on city-owned trees damaged by weekend storms.
Damage and debris in city boulevards will be taken care of by city workers.
Hanging limbs and damaged trees can be extremely dangerous.
According to a news release, workers will work their way through the city in a systematic way. There may be delays because of the number of trees damaged.
Residents can report damaged trees that pose a hazard by calling 406-447-8426 or sending and email to City Arborist Chris Daly at cdaly@helenamt.gov.
Make sure to include an address where the tree/limb is located.
City leaders are also reminding residents that damaged trees on private property are the residents' responsibility.
The city will not collect debris from privately owned trees. Debris from trees should be hauled to the transfer station and not placed in dumpsters or the boulevard.
