Kalispell Regional healthcare reports a data security breach earlier this year may have involved the personal information of nearly 130,000 KRH patients.

Kalispell Regional said this summer several of it's employees were victims of a well designed email that led them to unknowingly provide their hospital login credentials to hackers.

In a press release, KRH said they immediately disabled their accounts, notified federal law enforcement and launched an investigation, which was performed by a nationally recognized digital forensics firm.

KRH said on Aug. 28 it learned some patient's personal information may have been accessed without authorization. But a deeper investigation revealed the patients information may have been accessed as early as May 24th.

The information exposed may have involved name, social security number, email address, medical history, health insurance information among other things.

Kalispell Regional said about 90% of those patients hacked are Montana residents, about 10% reside in other states or other countries.

If patients have questions please call the designated help line at 1-877-514-0850. They ask that you have your membership number ready. KRH says they are offering 12 months of credit and identity monitoring services at no charge as an extra precaution.
