Montana adds 97 new COVID-19 cases (Tuesday, Aug. 11)

UPDATE: 8/11/2020 - 12:15 PM - Gallatin County Health Department reported this afternoon: As of Tuesday, Aug. 11, 2020, at 12 p.m. Gallatin County has three new confirmed cases of COVID-19, for a cumulative total of 965. There are 31 confirmed active cases and zero current hospitalizations. There have been a total of 931 people recovered in Gallatin County. Three people have died from COVID-19 complications.

Montana added 97 new COVID-19 cases to its total on the Montana Response COVID-19 tracking map on Tuesday.

Phillips County added 27 new cases according to the state.

• TOTAL CASES & RECOVERIES: Montana now reports 5,104 cumulative cases statewide, with 3,542 people recovered.

• HOSPITALIZATIONS: There are currently 77 patients hospitalized. There have been 276 hospitalizations due to COVID-19 since the pandemic began.

• ACTIVE CASES: The state reports there are currently 1,485 active COVID-19 cases in Montana.

• TESTING: The number of tests increased by 1,007 over the previous 24-hour reporting period, for a new cumulative state-wide total of 194,412.

• DEATHS: The cumulative number of deaths in Montana is now at 77.

A 13th Big Horn County resident has died of COVID-19, county officials announced Monday night.

The death was a man above the age of 70 who had been in the hospital, according to a news release from county spokesperson Rhonda Johnson.

Yellowstone County reported two further COVID-19 deaths on Saturday morning, and one additional death was reported in Big Horn County.

Cascade County confirmed its fourth death due to COVID-19on Friday; the first COVID-19 death in Stillwater County was also reported on Friday.

Governor Steve Bullock announced a statewide directive requiring face coverings/masks in Montana on July 15. The directive applies to counties that have four or more active cases of COVID-19.

The directive requires that masks be used in most indoor settings and where social distancing cannot be maintained. Bullock said businesses will have the right to deny entry of anyone not wearing a mask.
