Montana reports 3 additional deaths, 130 new COVID-19 cases (Monday, Sept. 21)

Montana state health officials reported three additional deaths and 130 new COVID-19 cases on Monday, according to the Montana Response COVID-19 tracking map.

The state death toll now stands at 160. Two of the newly-reported deaths were reported in Yellowstone County. Here's the full press release from RiverStone Health:

RiverStone Health, Yellowstone County’s public health department, reports that two additional Yellowstone County residents have died due to COVID-19 related illness.

On Saturday, September 19, two women, both in their 60s, passed away in a Yellowstone County hospital of COVID-19 related illness.

To protect the privacy of the deceased and their families, RiverStone Health will not release further information.

These deaths are reflected on the Monday, September 21 state COVID-19 tracking map.

“My heart is heavy and my thoughts and prayers are with the families of deceased as they face the loss of their loved ones from COVID-19,” said John Felton, Yellowstone County Health Officer, President and CEO of RiverStone Health.

“Every day and a half this month, a Yellowstone County resident has died of COVID-19 related illness; 13 people thus far. It is critical that each of us do our part to help slow down the spread of this virus and prevent more families from losing a loved one to COVID-19,” said Felton.

To date, 2,863 Yellowstone County residents have been infected with COVID-19 and 59 have died.

The other additional death was reported in Meagher County.

Yellowstone County reported the highest number of new cases with 22. Yellowstone County now has a cumulative total of 2,863 COVID-19 cases and there are 784 active cases in the county.

Cascade Cascade County reported the second highest number of new cases with 18, and Roosevelt County added 17 cases. Glacier County added 16 new cases, and Missoula County reported 10 additional cases.

The remaining new cases were spread across 17 Montana counties.

The cumulative total number of COVID-19 cases in Montana has reached 10,429. There have been 7,876 recoveries and there are now 2,393 active cases across the state. There are currently 108 people hospitalized for treatment of the virus.

The total number of tests is now at 311,262, an increase of 8,449 during the previous 24-hour reporting period.
