HELENA — According to the Montana Response COVID-19 tracking map, Montana saw 37 additional cases of COVID-19 over the past 24 hours.
That is the highest single day jump in cases since the virus was first reported in Montana on March 13. The previous highest single day total for new cases was on March 26, when the state reported 35 new cases.
In total, there are currently 207 active cases in the state.
Eleven counties reported new cases. Yellowstone County reported the most cases at 10, followed by Gallatin, with seven and Dawson County with six.
Thursday’s data raises the total number of cases in the state to 803. The state is reporting 802 cases because a case from May is attributed to Jefferson Co.
Jefferson Co. reported that the case involved a man in his 50’s who has not been in the state for several weeks. They added that the case was not acquired in Montana and the man has not been in contact with anyone in Montana.
Since Wednesday, the state reported 3,266 new tests completed. That raised the total number of tests counted in the state to 78,332. According to data on the map, 574 people are considered recovered. Fifteen people are currently hospitalized by the virus
To date, 21 people have died in Montana as a result of the virus.
