Daniel Scott Gregory is facing several criminal charges after he allegedly threatened police officers following a traffic stop on Thursday evening.

Court documents state that family members had been engaged with Gregory in the days leading up to Thursday's arrest, fearing that he may have been suicidal, and told officers that he may been planning to "take other people with him." Family members also explained that Gregory had threatened them with a gun on Thursday afternoon and then left the area.

Officers found Gregory later that evening as a passenger in a friend's vehicle and initiated a traffic stop. The officers approached with caution, as they had reason to believe that he was armed. Gregory got out and began yelling at the officers, telling them "Shoot me, m***er f**kers!"

Officers ordered Gregory to the ground at gunpoint, but he instead ran away. Officers used a Taser twice, but Gregory continued running. Court documents state that officers chased him "for an extended distance" until he stopped and tried to fight one of the officres along the 600 block of 4th Avenue NW.

Other officers arrived and Gregory was taken into custody, and a revolver was recovered from him; the officers learned that the gun had been reported stolen in Chouteau County. Court documents state that Gregory admitted knowing that the gun was "most likely" stolen, and he had traded it for meth.

Gregory is charged with two felonies: assault with a weapon, and intimidation; and the following misdemeanors: partner/family member assault; criminal destruction of or tampering with a communication device; theft; resisting arrest; and obstructing a peace officer.

(APRIL 1, 2019) On March 31, four people, including Tyler Hinsen, were outside a residence on the 900 block of 2nd Avenue South when Daniel Gregory stopped and got out of his vehicle. Gregory, Hinsen, and another man started arguing and Gregory had a machete, according to an affidavit.

Gregory had reportedly threatened two of the people with a machete on March 17 near Warden Park.

Another person got in between the arguing parties and Gregory hit him over the head with the machete, according to the affidavit. Hinsen then got a pistol from his vehicle, which caused Gregory to start driving away.

An affidavit states Hinsen shot at Gregory’s vehicle and the vehicle was struck several times. A bullet also hit a passenger.

Great Falls police responded to the residence around 7 p.m. and then were dispatched to Palm Court where Gregory is believed to have fled.

Gregory, 20, has been charged with four felony counts of assault with a weapon.

Hinsen, 28, faces two felony charges for criminal endangerment.
