Great Falls is no stranger to high winds like we had on Friday - some gusts approached 60 miles per hour.
But it hasn’t stopped students who are building another " High School House " in Great Falls from getting the job done.
Pete Pace, the High School House instructor, said, "We are obviously no stranger to working in high winds in Great Falls, but we do take extra precautions and when we see on the news the extreme high winds are coming up."
No matter the condition of the house it’s important to take precautions to keep it over your head.
Katie Hanng of the Home Builder's Association of Great Falls noted, “You want to make sure your roof is both taken care of and if there is anything that needs to be repaired. You want to make sure you're right on that and getting it done."
And the students make sure it’s done with the right hardware.
“We do use the recommended hurricane screws to screw our truss down," Pace said.
But if you’re not sure about what the requirements you need for your roof are, you can always talk to the professionals.
“You can come down here and I can show you what the tables look like, but any of our roofing professionals here in town would be able to help you. Make sure that your roof is what you need it to be,” said Hangg.
