Community members gathered on Thursday for the unveiling of new details surrounding the Milwaukee Depot project -- a downtown housing project in the works to begin this Autumn.
Named for its neighbor, the iconic Milwaukee Station tower, these apartments will be located near some of Great Falls' most notable attractions - the River's Edge Trail, Missouri River, and downtown Great Falls. The project will also feature spaces open to the general public such as a coffee bar and fitness center.
Big Sky Select Properties principal Brion Lindseth described these units as a place to live, work, and play, and said that construction is expected to run through late 2021 or early 2022.
He said, "One of our specific goals is to provide a place where people could live, work, and play, even in an environment affected by COVID. So we've taken great care to make each of our units at least a one-bedroom, include spaces that would be amenable for people working from home."
From the Big Sky Select Properties website:
- MILWAUKEE APARTMENTS: Beginning in the spring of 2020, Big Sky Select will construct a 5-story residential apartment complex next to the Milwaukee Station on the banks of the Missouri river in Great Falls, Montana. The apartment complex will contain over 90,000 square feet of residential space and approximately 88 units. The structure will be surrounded on virtually all sides by parks and is adjacent to the River’s Edge Trail system which consists of almost 60 miles of recreational trails located on the banks of the Missouri River.
- MILWAUKEE COMMERCIAL: Also beginning in 2020, Big Sky Select intends to remodel and construct an estimated 11,500 square feet of additional commercial space which is intended to be leased to multiple counter service restaurants and associated bar with shared rooftop and main level seating overlooking the Missouri River. This entertainment space will be connected to the Milwaukee Apartments and provide tenants with on-site entertainment and dining amenities.
As the project progresses, Big Sky Select Properties hopes to have more resources available to the public indicating what the final product will look like.
