PurpleGold announced on Wednesday that its acai bowl food truck will be coming back for a second season.

The popular mobile eatery will return to Great Falls after their first season left them with the taste of success.

In just a few months, the business will roll out a new food truck devoted to just acai bowls, while the original continues to serve up both the purple bowls and the golden waffles.

The owners say they will release more details about the food trucks as we get closer to spring.

(JULY 27, 2019) There’s a food truck in Great Falls that has the gold — and purple, too. PurpleGold, the nickname for the acclaimed acai berry, plays on the color of their two specialties: purple acai bowls and golden waffles and pays tribute to Montana’s own version of “purple gold”: the huckleberry.

Founders Ashley and Ryan Smith also own and operate Big Sky CrossFit but wanted to expand their healthy lifestyle from fitness to food.

The Smiths only took their food truck on the road one month ago, but they have quickly accelerated into success, securing a new spot at the Montana State Fair.

The Purple Gold motto is “good-for-you food that tastes even better,” which allows health-conscious fairgoers to opt for a more balanced bite.

Their signature bowls are packed with antioxidants and fresh fruit to satisfy your sweet tooth in a guilt-free way.

Even their waffles can be made healthy if you top them with wholesome additions like almond butter or fresh berries.

“They do kind of balance each other out. We’ve got like a really healthy option and then another option that can be healthy, or you can just toss on some extra goodies and make it like a sweet treat,” Ashley Smith said.

Purple Gold will be whipping up waffles and acai bowls every day of the fair right across from the Mercantile building.

If you don’t get a chance to meet them at the Midway, Purple Gold attends various events each week. You can check them out on Instagram or Facebook to see where they’ll be headed next.
