Helena Police said the stabbing near the Longhorn Saloon was not criminal in nature.
In a release, HPD said detectives made this determination after conducting an extensive investigation.
"Out of respect for the privacy of the individual involved, and because the matter has been determined not to be a criminal investigation, no further information regarding the circumstances under which the male sustained his injuries will be released," said HPD.

A man is recovering in the hospital after he was stabbed early Thursday morning.
According to the Helena Police Department, they were called to the scene near 11th Avenue and I-15 around 1:26 a.m..
When officers arrived, they found a man bleeding heavily. He was taken to St. Peter's Health with life-threatening injuries but has since stabilized.
No arrests have been made, but police are still investigating what led up to Thursday's stabbing. HPD said detectives have conducted interviews with witnesses and people who may have been involved.

One person is in the hospital after a stabbing in Helena.
Helena Police told MTN News crews on the scene the victim was found near the Longhorn Saloon Thursday morning.
According to HPD, the victim was taken to St. Peter's Health where they are being treated.
No official arrests have been made, but HPD said there is no ongoing threat to the public.
HPD told MTN News police are looking into a person of interest.
