HELENA — The City of Helena Parks, Recreation and Open Lands Department and Helena Public Art Committee are considering placement of an art installation in Welseyan Park this upcoming spring/summer.

The sculpture will be a gift to the City of Helena as a memorial to Kyle Boundy, with all money raised for the sculpture coming directly from the Boundy family. After seeking artist proposals, the Boundy Family and the HPAC chose the proposal of a sculpture by artist Paul Hogan. The sculpture is stainless steel guitar that will be made up of layers of metal. The sculpture is meant to give a viewer walking around the sculpture the illusion that the guitar is moving, and the overall shape is changing.

The specific size and location of the sculpture within Wesleyan Park has yet to be determined but will have to meet appropriate ADA and safety specifications.

Wesleyan Park is bordered by Helena Avenue, E. 14th Street, and N. Warren St. The City and HPAC will accept comments in the proposed sculpture until Oct. 2, 2020 at
