HELENA — On Friday afternoon, the Helena Indian Alliance brought together health and wellness organizations from around the area for its annual Health Fair.

Bonnie LaFountaine, coordinator for the HIA’s Leo Pocha Memorial Clinic, said they have been holding the fair for years, and it has grown recently. Friday’s event featured about 25 vendors.

The fair featured information and presentations on physical and mental health, fitness and more. There was also food, including a soup contest.

While the event helped connect the public with available services around the community, it also helped bring various organizations together. Leaders say the organizations that provide these types of services around the Helena area often work together, so it’s valuable for them to meet.

“Not only do we get to know what all the other organizations in Helena do, they get to see what we do here, and what we have to offer,” LaFountaine said.

The Leo Pocha Clinic provides primary care, mental health services, counseling and other services. Access to services is not limited only to the Native American community.
