First responders are a vital piece of any community and Thursday morning in Helena firefighters were thanked for all they do, at the 1st annual Mayor's Prayer Breakfast.

This is the first year for the breakfast in Helena, but Great Falls has been hosting similar events for 26 years. Leading residents like Steering Committee Member Chuck Amdahl to think It was about time to bring the breakfast to the Capital City.

Especially after the fire season the community just went through.

“This recognition is the Christian community's expression gratitude to people who make our community safe and a better place to live,” Amdahl told MTN. “And this year we put the focus upon our fire fighters, but not only our fire fighters but all of the support people that enable them to be on the front lines."
