HELENA — Florence Crittenton hosted their ninth annual fundraiser, “Support Our Girls” in support of women of all ages in the community Thursday night.
The fundraiser with the theme “Havana Nights” was held in the atrium at the Lewis and Clark County Fairgrounds and kicked off at 5:30 p.m.
The initial intent of the fundraiser was to show support for women with changing bodies; whether they are pregnant or nursing, women in the program need access to proper bras.
The event originally began as a way to help sustain operational fundraiser efforts for the fiscal year.
Nine years ago, Executive Director, Carrie Krepps, told MTN that there was only about 40 people who attended, and now they can expect up to 150 or more.
“It about supporting these young women and their efforts and everything they're going through and helping them build this new bright future, so we came up with this idea that it would be really fun if we decorated some bras just in light of that great small event our board member had done and it just has grown from there,” said Krepps.
