HELENA — With the shift to 4-day school weeks, the Helena Family YMCA is adapting and will offer after-school childcare in partnership with Lewis & Clark County.

In a press release, the Y announced that they will also be offering after-school transportation from the student’s schools to the fairgrounds with their newly-purchased vans. The funds came from their $1 million CARES Act grant.

The YMCA says they are still offering all-day “Virtual Wednesdays” where staff will make sure kids are in virtual meetings and they complete any homework that needs to be done.

Their price is $435 for a month which includes after-school care for four days a week, and one full day of care on Wednesdays.

If you opt for transportation from school to the fairgrounds, it will be $475 for the month.

On after-school days, the Y will be open until 6:00 pm, but on Wednesdays, the time is 7:30 am - 5:30 pm.

The daily price for Wednesdays only will remain the same, $65 per day.

Starting March 1st, the Helena YMCA will also be able to offer new scholarships, thanks to their new child care license within the state. The Y will be offering the Best Beginning scholarship, administered through Child Care Connections.

Also, if a child has a diagnosis, a family may qualify for the special needs subsidy.
