Help a student: Annual Move-In Day planned for MSU
BOZEMAN —

Students, current and new, are about to start making their way back to Montana State University.

And while the excitement of a new school year can be enticing, moving into a residence hall can be a task that isn’t quite so fun.
MSU officials are looking for volunteers to make the process a bit easier for both students and their families who might be helping them come August 21.
About 100 volunteers are hoped for, each with four hour shifts that will include helping move the student’s belongings from the curb up into the dorms.
Officials add while they have many volunteers from across campus already, they hope to include more of the Bozeman community.
“The first time that a person comes to college, to their residence hall, it can be an intimidating time and so having a welcoming face greet you at the curb, tell you that they are glad to see you, that they are happy that you’d come to Montana State, I mean that’s a big step toward making that person feel like they’re a part of the MSU community,” says Michael Becker, director of the MSU campus news service.
Volunteers will also get a free T-shirt and other things for their time.
The deadline for applying to be a volunteer is August 18.
