HELENA, Mt. — Lewis and Clark Counties will light county buildings green Nov. 4-11 in recognition of Operation Green Light for Veterans, a nationwide initiative that honors military veterans and raises awareness of the challenges they face and the resources available to support them and their families.

Led by the National Association of Counties, the initiative highlights veteran services and resources available at the county, state, and federal levels.

“It is important that we remember and honor the sacrifices our veterans have made in service to our country,” said Tom Rolfe, chair of the Lewis and Clark County Board of Commissioners. “This is a small but meaningful way to express our gratitude and say ‘thank you’ to those who have served and helped preserve the freedom and liberties that make the United States such a remarkable nation.”

County officials are also encouraging residents and businesses to participate by changing at least one light bulb in their homes or businesses to green during the initiative.

Participants can use a green bulb in an exterior light visible to neighbors and passersby or an interior light that sparks conversations with friends and family. The green lights are intended to remind veterans that they are seen, appreciated, and supported.

Now in its sixth year, Operation Green Light is spearheaded by the National Association of Counties and the National Association of County Veterans Service Officers.
