Blue Creek firefighters rescued a woman and child found in a vehicle crashed in a creek south of Billings Monday morning.

Just before 11:30 a.m., rescuers were called to Pryor Creek Road an eighth of a mile south of the intersection with Blue Creek Road. A maroon SUV had crashed through the guardrail and down the embankment, coming to rest in Blue Creek.

A boy was flown by HELP Flight to St. Vincent Healthcare, and the adult female driver was taken by ambulance to Billings Clinic. It took firefighters a half hour to extricate the driver after the helicopter had flown away with the child.

The extent of the injuries it not disclosed at this time.

It is not known how long the vehicle had been in the creek.

Yellowstone County deputies, tribal police, and Montana Highway Patrol troopers responded to the crash.
