Local, state and county officials will hold a public meeting regarding contaminated water in the Worden Ballantine Yellowstone County Water and Sewer District system at 6 p.m. at the Huntley Project High School commons area Monday.

Officials from the water district, Yellowstone County, and the Montana Department of Environmental quality will be available to provide information and answer questions about the problems facing the water supply in Worden and Ballantine.

Last week, the Worden Ballantine water district released a public health advisory telling customers hooked up to the system to not consume water from the tap due to high nitrates and other possible contamination. Only bottled water is safe to drink at this time.

Officials will also be asking for volunteers from the community to man a bottled water distribution system at the meeting, Worden Ballantine water district board spokesman Gary Fredericks said Monday.
