With snowfall like that expected to start falling in Gallatin County Tuesday night, it falls on county road crews to head into the powder to keep our roads safe.
Plow drivers with Gallatin County Road and Bridge are making sure all of the crew is ready for it.
While it might not be snowing yet, crews say they still have 570 total miles of lane to cover with 13 different routes.
So, if this snow lasts, the drivers expect to work 10 to 12 hours to get it done.
“Been getting ready for this since July. We’ve been working on plow trucks," says Bill Brownell, Gallatin County Road and Bridge supervisor. "We’ll have foremen out at four in the morning if it starts snowing and dispatching plows. It’s all hands on deck, pretty much, yep.”
A reminder from the department: they don’t tow drivers out of ditches.
They ask you to call the sheriff’s department or tow companies to make sure you get out safely and quickly.
