The Montana Telecommunications Access Program (MTAP) held its 30th Anniversary Celebration.

Governor Bullock and many others were on hand to celebrate the MTAP anniversary.

MTAP is a program within the Department of Public Health and Human Services to provide specialized, telecommunication equipment to those who are deaf, hard-of-hearing, or are speech and mobility impaired.

Between 2014-2019, MTAP has given over 2,500 pieces of equipment.

MTAP has close to 1,500 clients across the state, as of 2019.

“We owe the people who furnished these phones to us, a terrible debt of gratitude because its brought reality, and, for all practical purposes you could say, it has provided us a lifeline for our way of life,” says Mike Hankins, a MTAP client.

MTAP committee members were also given plaques for their efforts in the program.
