Laurel police said they're investigating an "unattended death" at the 600 block of Fifth Avenue Monday night.

Police Chief Stan Langve said in a news release that police found no evidence to suggest a threat to the public, but the death is being treated as suspicious.

Police expect to be processing the scene through Tuesday and asking travelers to avoid the area, he said.

Parents transporting small children, or children walking to and from school along Fifth Avenue or West Sixth Street, should consider alternate routes, Langve said.
