The lawyer for the Hamilton School District says school officials would review taking down a curb that blocks a family's garage if the family formally requested to use the school district's property.
MTN News first reported about the situation involving the Conyers -- who live next to Daly Elementary School -- two weeks agao..
During construction on the school, a curb was put up running adjacently with the driveway that brings cars and buses into the school, blocking the Conyer's secondary garage.
The Conyers talked to the school district and the city of Hamilton about removing the curb and the school board deliberated on the matter at its meeting Tuesday night.
In a statement, the Hamilton School District says they are the owner of the property that the Conyers want to use to have a secondary access to their property. They go on to say nothing impedes the family from accessing their property through public roads.
Below is a statement from the Hamilton School District regarding the issue with Maple Drive:
"The Hamilton School District values its relationships with all of its neighbors, and hopes it can come to some resolution with the Conyers family regarding their use of District property. The District is the owner of the property the Conyers want to use to have a secondary access to their property. Nothing impedes the Conyers family from accessing their property through public roads. The only change in recent weeks is that they are no longer able to use District property due to the construction. There has been no request to use this property – simply a demand that the District remove the curb that prevents access to its property. The family has been notified that they need to formally request to use this property if they want the District to consider removing the curb. The District will consider this request when, and if, it is made to the Board."
