HAUSER RESERVOIR — The Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) is seeking public comment on proposed work to York Bridge over Hauser Reservoir.

Tentatively scheduled for 2021, the work includes replacing deteriorated bridge deck joints, performing bridge deck preservation work and updating adjacent roadway guardrail.

There are no new Right-of-Way or utility relocations expected.

Traffic will be kept open during the construction, but will be moved down to one lane at times.

Great Falls District Preconstruction Engineer Steve Prinzing said the goal is to preserve the pavement on the bridge before the deck would need to be fully replaced.

“It can get really really costly if you get deterioration in the deck and cracking that’s all the way through,” said Prizing. “In some cases bridge decks get bad enough were we have to replace the whole deck, and that really is a major ordeal.”

MDT says it’s still to early in the project to know how long it will take to complete work on the bridge once construction begins, but they hope to limit disruption as much as possible.

Public comments can be submitted on theMDT website, or in writing to Montana Department of Transportation, Great Falls office at PO Box 1359, Great Falls, MT 59403-1359. The project is CN 9550000.
