Victim in Sunday's mass shooting has Missoula connection

The U.S. Forest Service confirms with MTN News one of the nine killed in Sunday morning’s mass shooting in Dayton, Ohio was a former tour-guide at the Smoke Jumper Center in Missoula.

USFS spokesman Dan Hottle says Betts obtained the six-week internship through the Student Conservation Association program.

She was in Montana from about the middle of May to July.

In a late Sunday afternoon news conference Ohio officials said Megan Betts, 22, was shot by her brother Connor Betts, the suspect in the shooting.

According to Betts' Facebook page, she studied Biological Sciences at Wright State University.

Hottle says the U.S. Forest Service sends its deepest condolences.
