Montana Ag Network report for Wednesday, November 6, 2019:
1. Next week the Montana Farm bureau federation will hosts its 100th annual convention. It will be November 11-14th in downtown Billings. The event will celebrate the impact that MFBF has had on Montana over the last century. For more information, click here to visit the MFBF website .
2. The Montana Department of Livestock, Montana Invasive Species Council, and USDA-APHIS Wildlife Services will host a feral swine summit on November 15 in Billings. The event will provide education regarding Montana's regulations pertaining to feral swine. "While feral swine are not yet in Montana, we are aware of their expanding range in Saskatchewan and recent reports of sightings of feral swine along Montana’s northern border,” said Tahnee Szymanski, Assistant State Veterinarian at the department of Livestock, “In coordination with our partners, we are working hard to prevent their introduction.”

3. Rabo AgriFinance just released its ten-year outlook for corn, soybeans, and wheat. The report says ending stocks will continue to be an issue for the crops, as the long-term trends for yield increases make up the difference in lower acre numbers while demand remains flat. The report says these stocks will keep a lid on commodity prices. For corn and wheat, the report says, "oversupply, flat domestic use, no or little growth in exports, and increased global trade competition" will continue to pile up. Given no changes to ethanol policy, the outlooks call for animal feed to overtake ethanol as the demand driver for corn in 2026/27.
4. U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Sonny Perdue will lead a trade mission to Mexico from November 6-8 to forge new opportunities with U.S. agriculture’s largest bilateral trading partner and second-largest export market. He will be joined by Under Secretary for Trade and Foreign Agricultural Affairs Ted McKinney and more than 100 industry and government representatives. The trip also comes as agriculture groups continue to press the house of representatives to hold a vote to ratify the US Mexico Canada agreement.
