Driver dies after hitting a deer near Belt

A man from Belt died after hitting a deer on his motorcycle.

The collision happened on Tuesday along Highway 331 just off of Belt Creek Road and was reported to the Montana Highway Patrol at 1:10 p.m.

The man, who was in his 80s, was taken to a hospital but died of his injuries later that day.

According to the Montana Highway Patrol, speed may have been a factor, but alcohol and drugs are not suspected to have played a role.

The MHP is continuing to investigate.

The name of the man has not yet been released.
