FRENCHTOWN — Frenchtown High School Principal Jake Haynes received a big surprise on Monday when he learned he was voted the 2021 Montana Principal of the Year during a student assembly.

Students and staff took turns sharing stories and congratulating Haynes for receiving this honor. They also watched a slide show presentation featuring images of him with family, staff, and students.

Haynes says he’s humbled by the recognition and says this is about much more than just one person.

“I think it’s a great honor for the entire Frenchtown community. It’s certainly a little bit of personal recognition, but it does go back to the awesome students we have, the amazing staff, I mean the support staff, and to those elementary school teachers,” Haynes said. “You know I have kids in the school and if my kids weren’t having such an awesome experience in Frenchtown schools, I wouldn’t be here.”

Haynes has been the principal at Frenchtown High School for 13 years.
