The Montana National Guard will honor veterans with an exclusive hunting opportunity for the third consecutive year.
Spearheaded by the Adjutant General for Montana Maj. Gen. Matthew Quinn, up to five Purple Heart recipients will have the chance to hunt mule deer on the training area of Fort Harrison on Veterans Day.
This is exciting news for all who qualify as Fort Harrison is an expansive facility with plenty of wildlife. The land is normally off limits to hunters, but if chosen, Purple Heart recipients will have the land to themselves for an entire day.
Recipients can also call on the training center and range control personnel for a safety briefing, layout of the property, and insider information on wildlife whereabouts.
“It’s really the Montana National Guard’s way of thanking those veterans that were Purple Heart recipients for all the things that they have given to their community, their state, and their nation," explained Montana National Guard spokesman Dan Bushnell. "This is a small token of appreciation for their sacrifice."
