HELENA — The Montana VA Health Care System (MTVAHCS) will be holding a virtual town hallon Thursday Feb. 25 from 5:00-6:00 p.m to provide updates and answer questions about COVID-19 vaccinations and vaccine distribution efforts.

“We are grateful for the ways Veterans have remained engaged with their healthcare during the pandemic and we are excited to hold vaccination events around Montana until all enrolled Veterans who want to receive a COVID-19 vaccine are immunized,” said MTVAHCS Executive Director Dr. Judy Hayman. “We understand there are many questions about COVID-19 vaccines and vaccine distribution. We hope Veterans attend Thursday’s virtual town hall so we can answer as many questions as possible.”

This week MTVAHCS will have provided first doses of the COVID-19 vaccine to more than 5,500 veterans in Montana, roughly 11 percent of veterans enrolled with MTVAHCS.

MTVAHCS serves over 47,000 enrolled Veterans across Montana—an area roughly 147,000 square miles in size.

To meet the needs of vaccinating rural veterans, MTVAHCS is heading a pilot program to use fixed-wing aircraft to get doses to rural communities.

Veterans can follow COVID-19 vaccination updates via email, Facebook, and Twitter. If a Veteran has questions about receiving the vaccine, they can send their healthcare team a secure message throughMyHealtheVet or call 844-819-0833 to set up a time to discuss the COVID-19 vaccine.
