Lewis and Clark Co. special commission meeting on policing procedures

HELENA — Lewis and Clark Co. leaders will hold a special commission meeting Wednesday to talk about county policing policies.

The meeting is in response to public unrest around the nation following the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis in May.

Sheriff Leo Dutton will explain current sheriff's office policy and explain what his office is doing to ensure fair and equal treatment of people.

County commissioner will also discuss programs and initiatives aimed at addressing mental health, substance abuse, homelessness and reducing repeat offenders in the community.

The meeting is in commission chambers and starts at 1:30 p.m.
