HELENA — A little snow and an earthquake didn't stop West Valley/Lewis and Clark County Volunteer Fire Department (WVLCVFD) from parading their trucks through the neighborhoods of their service area.

Montana Highway patrol Trooper Amanda Villa also joined in with her patrol car.

The goal of the event was to brighten up people’s evenings, and let folks know that they’re still around and will be there when needed.

“This is the fun stuff we get to do,” said Cpt. Tim Dusenberry with WVLCVFD. “I mean it doesn’t take a lot to get a lot of firemen to want to drive fire trucks around. This is just community outreach, and we’re happy to do it.”

People came out of their homes to wave at the passing parade and shout their support for the first responders.

WVLCVFD is also using the parade to raise awareness about fire safety, and encourage people to check their smoke and CO detectors and practice their escape plan.

The volunteer department put up a humorous video on the social media laying out what people can do during their extended time at home.
